Thinking of Starting a Business?

How much money can you make?

What do you pay for a printed T-shirt?

                $10, $15, $20?

                Let's be conservative and say................    $ 8
Less: your cost which is under..................     3
Your profit per shirt.............................  $ 5

                With the Jennings training program
and a little practice, you can  print
                     1-Color shirts per hour.........................  100

Your profit per hour of production... $500

What controls how much money I make?

The answer depends on several factors.

Retail vs. wholesale:   If you are selling directly to the consumer, you should be paid the price paid in stores.  An example would be a sales program where kids in school get a shirt, cap and bag printed with the school name.  You will have a sponsor in the school who will be paid 20% off of the top.  The selling price of your net sale will be much higher than wholesale.  Wholesale pricing is lower, because there is a middleman or a single party is buying a large quantity.

Example:  A T-shirt might sell retail for $12 to $20 each, but wholesale for $6 to $8.  Selling price has a lot to do with profit.  How much you make depends on how you reach the consumer.

Age of Customer:   Young people under age 29 will pay more than their parents, because the young people are more fashion conscious, and less cost conscious.  So a youngster in school will pay $12 to $20 for a cap where their parents ages 30 to 55 will pay $6 to $10.   The grandparents are the least fashion conscious, and most cost conscious, because they are on Social Security and retirement.  The grandparents will pay less, like $4 to $6 per cap.

Location:  Prices vary depending on where the money is.  Well to do areas, college communities, high priced cities, and expensive social gatherings like tennis or golf tournaments will command high prices.

Production per Hour: Production will be higher on smaller machines, because you do not have to turn the screens as far.  That saves time, shirt after shirt, and those savings add up.  You want to buy equipment for your most frequent printing requirement, not the maximum number of colors you might need some day.

Very tight screens allow registering screens faster and better, and allow printing faster.  We only recommend using the best screens available.  When you understand cost is not what you pay when you buy, but also includes the labor and overhead to own a product, the best frames are the least expensive.  You will learn more about this when you get into our free training program.

A shop lay out that eliminates walking, bending, reaching and other movement will produce more pieces per hour and make you more money.

There are many other factors that determine production per hour, like how ink is prepared, screens are prepared, printing techniques, and the like.  You will be exposed to this and more when you go through our training program.  No other company offers a training program like the R Jennings Mfg. Co. when you buy new equipment.  If you buy used equipment, you will probably get no training, or training from someone who performed poorly in the business.  Your option is R Jennings Mfg.   You can't ask for anything better than professional help that is free.

Do you have questions, like...?

        What items can be printed?

How does the image get in the screen?

How much space will be required?

   Ink needs to be cured
with heat.  This table top
unit has an adjustable
heat element that can
be raised for caps and
lowered for shirts.  Garments
can be put under the heat
element, or the heat element can be rotated over the shirt platen to flash cure inks.   There are a few instances when printing is better when the first ink printed is flash cured for about 6 seconds before printing the second color.  This dryer provides all this capability, plus has a temperature control switch to regulate heat and your electric bill.  Some competitors do not offer temperature control, but like a household iron, we need to adjust the temperature level depending on whether we are working with 100% cotton or a man-made fabric.

Important considerations when deciding what to do:

  1. Your business with 1, 2, and 4-color machines can be operated on top of a desk with a D-615 or D-630 dryer.  The 6-Color has an 7' 1" diameter, and the D-1000 requires 27" x 6'3" of space.
  2. Most people start out printing only one and two color jobs, and later expand with additional colors and attachments.  You can save money by starting out without micro registration, but add micro later, if you want.
  3. All Training Packages can be changed to meet  your budget requirements!
  4. You can expand your business with 31 attachments for caps, jackets, pockets and more, but you don't order attachments until a customer first gives you the sales order.
  5. If you want a bigger machine or dryer, you can trade in your equipment as long as you are the original owner for a credit of 75% of what you paid regardless of wear or equipment age.  No other company helps you grow  -  they make you re-invest.
  6. You can print 100 one color shirts per hour.  The D-615 or D-630 cures 30-40 shirts per hour depending on temperature setting, how close you put the heater to the garment and how thick you print the ink vs. 144 per hour with the D-1000 conveyor dryer.  The D-615 and D-630 cost less and take less space, but limit production when printing simple one color jobs.  A multi-color job takes longer to print and production may not be limited by the dryer.  You may want to start with the D-615 and then trade later for the more productive conveyor dryer.
  7. Caps are more profitable and less competitive than shirts.  People wear caps in all seasons, in all weather, day and night  -  unlike shirts.  Free help is available, including how to prepare art, make screens, print and market caps.   We even advise how to select the best cap to print and how to print the new high density inks over seams.
  8. Only an exposure unit is not included in these packages.  We will provide instructions so you can make your own at a cost of about $25-$50.  This will save you about $1200.

Now,  you will want to go to the "Products" section to see photos and additional information about the equipment, or email to roger@rjennings.com for help or call 518-798-CAP-T (2277), or 800-500-2279

We are waiting for you..........so that soon you will be printing images like you see under "What's New."
