R Jennings Equipment FAQ New!
Equipment Guide!
What kind
of press should I buy? 1 color? 6 color? Help!
Most people start out printing only one and two color jobs, and later
expand with additional colors and attachments. There are a world
of one and two color opportunities awaiting you. You can also save money
by starting without "micro registration." The good news is,
as with all R Jennings products, you can always upgrade later. And the
best news of all is that as an R Jennings customer you will be eligible
for our 75% trade-in upgrade policy!
What
is this "micro registration" thing I keep hearing about?
Micro registration is a an add-on which allows you to fine tune your
screen registration when aligning multiple colors for a job. Think of
it as a FINE adjustment rather than a COARSE adjustment.
I don't
know if I have enough space. Can I set up shop in my garage?
Absolutely. In fact, with an R Jennings 1,2
or 4 color bench press, coupled with a D-615
or D-630 dryer, you can set up shop on a desk! On the other hand,
if you have more space available, and more money to spend, a six color
press measures 7' in diameter. In this scenario, you may also opt for
a D-1500 dryer which requires 27" x 75" of space or LB
conveyor which takes less space.
OK,
so let's say I buy a 2 color press and a small dryer that will fit on
a desk. What happens if I get an order and I need an attachment or add-on?
R Jennings
offers a total of thirty-two (32) attachments for caps, jackets, pockets
and more which can be purchased at any time to expand your business.
For maximum cost effectiveness for you, we highly recommend holding
off on purchasing attachments until you get a job that requires them.
What
if my business starts booming and I need a bigger dryer or machine?
Great news: If you are the original owner of equipment purchased
from R Jennings and wish to upgrade it, we will buy it back for 75%
of the price you paid for it and apply it towards your new purchase--
regardless of wear or how long you have owned it!! This is one of the
things that sets R Jennings apart from its competitors.
What's
the story on dryers? Some people say all I need is a flash dryer to
start. Others say I need a conveyor. What should I buy?
Ah,
the proverbial dryer question! Let's start by assuming you can print
1 color shirts at a rate of 100 per hour (which is totally feasible
if you take advantage of our free training program).
Our flash dryers (the D-615
and D-630) cure 30-40 shirts per hour-- depending on temperature
setting, how close the heater is to the garment and how thick the ink
is printed. As you can see, simple math tells us that flash dryers will
reduce production by 60 to -70 shirts per hour; so, what
you gain in value, you lose in productivity. Now, let's talk about a
conveyor dryer, such as our D-1500 model. It is capable of cranking
out 144 shirts per hour! It's also important to keep in mind that multi-color
jobs take longer to print and production may not be limited by the dryer
as much as it is limited by the printing process. It all comes
down to your production rate.
Should
I get in to cap printing?
Caps are
more profitable and less competitive from a sales standpoint. Unlike
T-shirts, people wear caps in all seasons, in all weather-- day or night.
You may have heard that cap printing is difficult. That is because
they did not have our patented features and top flight training. Fear not, free help
is available. We specialize in training topics such as how to prepare
art, make screens, print and market caps. We even advise how to
select the best cap to print and how to print the new high density inks
over seams.
Should
I buy an exposure unit? I don't even see any on your website! What gives?
We do not sell over-priced exposure
units. Instead, we teach our customers how to make their own 100%
effective exposure units at a cost of about $50. This is yet another example
of how R Jennings creates maximum value for its customers. We do sell
the best made exposure unit for those who want a metal halide light with
a vacuum blanket and light timing device.
